This is the quiet end of the Lancashire stage in every sense. The race will be moving quickly here, the crowds will be thinner than in Lancaster or on the climbs, and that is exactly the appeal for anyone who would rather not spend the day shoulder to shoulder. Leighton Hall, the country house on the northern part of the route, is close enough to build a morning around.
One caution worth repeating: the corridor is confirmed, the roads are not. Until A.S.O. and the local councils publish the detailed route and the closure list, nobody can tell you which street in Carnforth the race will use, and anyone who does is guessing.
